The place
Mas de Garrigue sits on the banks of the Lot, between Figeac and Cahors, in the heart of Occitanie. It is a beautiful guesthouse of unusual architecture, the result of careful restoration. The tower, the large stone fireplaces, the exposed beams and the old stone sinks all do their work. In summer, the pool earns its keep too.
The owners, Sarah and Steve, are Irish, and both have a feel for good food and good wine. The memory of one particular evening there has stuck: a lively dinner shared with guests from London, Paris, New York and elsewhere, all around the same table as though we had known each other for years.
One thing to note: Mas de Garrigue is adults-only. Children under ten and babies are welcome when a group books the whole house.
