The Hungry Cyclist
The best of Burgundy on your doorstep
The place
Tom, originally from England, runs The Hungry Cyclist Lodge. The setting is a 17th-century watermill, with a table d'hôtes that is genuinely worth booking for itself.
Two minutes from Meursault, this gîte makes a fine base camp for exploring Burgundy and its wines. Five double en-suite rooms over two floors take solo travellers as well as groups. And, as the name suggests, anyone who rides a bike will find plenty to talk about with their host.
The icing on the cake? The Hungry Cyclist now makes wine too, under a sister label called The Thirsty Cyclist.
