Brasserie Artisanale RATZ
In the Lot valley, one craft beer carries the name RATZ
The place
Brasserie Artisanale RATZ was born of a single conviction. Christophe Ratz settled in the Quercy and put down his roots there, drawing on the brewing trade he had learnt in Belgium and England. The result is a beer built on pure malt and aromatic hops, with nothing added and nothing rushed.
The brewery has been producing unpasteurised craft beers since 2001. The core range covers the classics: blanche, blonde, amber and brown. Alongside sit the specials and the R-signed cuvées, where the team's own brewing ideas come to the fore. An organic line, brewed with certified malt and hops, rounds things out.
The brewery is in Fontanes, in the Lot. The team is happy to show visitors round and to talk through their brewing process in proper detail.
The taproom is warm and welcoming. Beers can be tasted on the spot, in the company of a team who clearly enjoy their work. Rugby fans will feel at home.
