Clos Teisseire
A vineyard, a craft. Discover winemaking in the heart of the Aude.
The place
Clos Teisseire, set between Carcassonne and Limoux, is a family wine estate that has carried winemaking through several generations. At 250 metres of altitude, the vineyard looks out across the Pyrenees, a striking setting for the wines made here.
The estate keeps sustainable, low-impact practices at the heart of every stage. The vines, covering 11 hectares of AOC Limoux and IGP Haute Vallée de l'Aude, are farmed with care for biodiversity and soil health. Signature *cépages*, Chardonnay, Chenin, Pinot Noir and Syrah, draw on a distinctive *terroir* and microclimate.
*Vendanges* are by hand, so the best fruit can be picked to make wines with depth and aromatic complexity. In the cellar, tradition sits alongside modern kit: stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels are used to refine *cuvées* of real finesse. The work is led by Laetitia and Pierre Teisseire, with œnologist Olivier Mérieux.
Clos Teisseire opens its doors for tastings on site, where you can take in the wines against the surrounding landscape. Tours of the vineyard and cellar are also on offer, for a fuller picture of the winemaking process.
Beyond the wine, the estate makes a useful starting point for walking, riding and mountain biking on the Natura 2000 site that surrounds it.
