How to submit a listing in 5 minutes (step-by-step)

You know a place that deserves to be written up on Épicurieux, or you run somewhere yourself and would like to be listed. The process is simple. The form is short. Each submission is read by a person, not an algorithm. There is no automatic five-minute validation. We read every request, we take time to check, and we come back to you within seven to ten days. This tutorial explains how to prepare a suggestion in five minutes so that we can process it quickly and well. It works equally for members of the public flagging a good place and for craftspeople putting themselves forward.

Step 1: choose the right place

Épicurieux lists places open to the public, run by people who do real work with their hands and who belong to a craft tradition: a farm producer, a restaurateur who actually cooks, a wine merchant who selects, an independent hotelier, a guide who passes on knowledge. Before writing, check that the place fits this line. What we are not interested in: chains, franchises, places closed to the public, online-only shops with no workshop to visit. A genuine but little-known place interests us more than an institution already on every list.

Step 2: gather the information

Before opening the form, gather these details. A well-prepared listing is handled much more quickly:

If you are suggesting your own business, also include: how long you have been doing this, what sets you apart, and a photo of you at work if you can.

Step 3: fill in the form

Head to the contact page. The form offers several subjects. Choose the one that matches your case.

Then paste in the information you prepared in step 2. No need for polished prose. A bullet list or a factual message will do. Attach the photos if you have them (max 10 MB per send). Include a working email so we can come back to you.

Step 4: wait for a reply

Once the request is sent, allow seven to ten days. We read everything, in order of arrival. Depending on the case, we may: confirm the selection and schedule the writing of the listing; ask for a detail or an addition (a photo, a date, an exact address); set up a visit if the place is near a trip we already have planned; or note that we are keeping the suggestion in reserve for a future themed piece.

To be straight with you: we do not always send a formal refusal when a suggestion will not be taken up. The volume is too high. If you have heard nothing after three weeks, the place has probably not been chosen for the moment. You can try again later, especially if something has changed (a new menu, a new workshop, a medal, an expansion).

Step 5: update or correction

A published listing contains an error, opening hours have changed, the business has moved, the winegrower has retired? Write to us via the form, choose the subject "Correction to a listing" and tell us which listing is concerned. We correct within a few days.

If you are the owner and you wish to remove your listing, just say so. No reason needs to be given. Removal is handled within the week.

Frequently asked questions

Can I suggest a place anonymously?

Yes. You can write to us with a first name and a disposable email address. We keep your suggestion confidential. We only ask for a way to get back in touch with you if a detail needs checking before publication.

Do I need to provide photos?

It is not required but it is appreciated. Two or three personal photos (not images from the web) help us confirm the place. If you don't have any, we manage: a visit, public photos from the artisan, our own shots when we pass through.

Can I suggest my own business?

Of course. Simply choose the subject "Listing request" in the form instead of "Suggest a place". We treat both with the same care. Self-nominating is neither an advantage nor a handicap, what matters is the place itself.

What happens if the listing is turned down?

We try to tell you honestly and without dressing it up. A no is not a judgement on the quality of the place. It is often a question of editorial line, of thematic saturation, or of timing. You can resubmit the place later, especially if something has changed.
